| speaking of satellite - those of you that know me well know that i am not much for tv. i mostly had movies and leaf games in mind when i ordered the dish but i will tell you the shows that i think are most worth watching.
corner gas! once again demonstrating that by and large, canadians are the best entertainers in the world. this show is a work of art. i have only seen a few episodes and they are truly excellent. hilarious, no exageration. it is also refreshing to hear tv jokes about canada customs and revenue service and those big shots that came all the way from toronto.
joan of arcadia. great cast. joe montegna (you'll know him as the voice of fat tony on the simpsons) is one of my favourite actors, which is why i watched it in the first place. mary steenburgen is a wonderful bonus - so nice to see her work in front of millions of viewers on a regular basis. even unknown actors are all very very good and the writing is excellent. storylines thoughtfully crafted and well executed. it really is an original show. i liked it from the very begining and it has been getting better all along.
star trek enterprise. again a very good cast - who doesn't like scott bakula, come on!? i have been watching this for a few years now and it is going very well. all the characters have been strongly developed as have the production, effects and main storyline. it is so well written that i can miss close to an entire season and still feel well connected to all the characters and the story. this is easily the best star trek project to come along since patrick stewart. i really can't say enough about this show - of all the sci-fi dramas being broadcast right now, it is head and shoulders above the rest.
and now back to your regularly scheduled junk mail.
| well well well. is it time for my semi-annual post? it was never meant to be such an infrequent thing but it is what it is i suppose.
i'm still busy i just realized that i had to tell everybody about the coolest new things before i take my dog for a walk.
well for starters, i have a dog. and a cat. their name are turkish and korben.

they look friendly but don't be fooled - there is some serious psychosis at work here. both of them have very grave mental problems.
anyways on to the real reason for this post:
cbc galaxie stations! these are fucking great!! i get these with my bell express vu (vu. wtf is this world coming to? ) anyway, i can put on the ambient station for some groovy electronica - voila! i am enjoying the latest chill music. i can put on the smooth jazz station for when i am in a cheffy mood. yeah i made that up just now. need slammin beats? there is a galaxie hip hop and urban music channel. feeling like chef's cruder cousin? flip to the r&b channel. wanna rock out? there is a selection of rock stations. adult, classic, *alternative *. plenty of spliffy music on the reggae channel. like classical? they have channels for baroque, chamber music, etc. need pop music? never fear - they have a pop channel that's just right for you.. cowboy junkies, natalie imbruglia and if that gets too chum-fm for you, there others where you can find your britney or your gershwin. it is the antithesis of variety radio- just the kind of music you want to hear at the time you want to hear it. no wondering what that title was, who sings this tune, what album was that on; every song has its info right on the screen. AND NO COMMERCIALS! no stupid djs, hosts, personalities or whatever the on-air voice puppets call themselves these days. no announcements, no weather -just music, sweet, sweet music. and when you finally jones for variety? then there is the world beat station where they play any kind of music from anywhere in the world whenever they want. it's like a box of chocolates, you know how it goes.
between this and the gigabytes of mp3s on my entertainment pc, i won't be buying many cds anymore. i don't listen to the hundreds i already have. i don't know when i will ever take another cd out of it's jewel case - i can't remember when i last did.
| hello everybody. it's been a while since i made an entry here. i really like reading everyone else's blogs but usually just don't have the energy, when i'm online after work, to write in my own.
before i close my eyes for the night, i just thought i'd mention friendster. i just found out about it today and i thought i would be one of the first canadian people on there and be so cool and tell all my friends about it but it turns out some of them were already there. but they didn't tell me. oh no. i had to read about it in the village voice. punks. they'll get theirs! anyway it's really groovy so if you haven't joined yet, check it out. and if you have, add me to your list of friends already!
one other thing. i was doing a google search to find funny and cheesy pick-up lines (i don't you use them myself of course. it's for research purposes only for my shy friend) when i came across this page with little photos of mostly middle-aged men accompanied by little blurbs about them. it seemed to be a website for meeting drinking buddies. i was just thinking how totally fucking lame that was when i noticed that (much like most of my friends) everyone seemed to be gay. then i realized the site was called bearbuddies.com and not beerbuddies. so if you happen to be a gay man and looking to hook up with other gay men - well they are based in toronto. have fun.

| did you know that 65% of cells in the human heart are neural cells just like in the brain? well if you think that is cool (and i'm sure you do), you will be amazed to know that the heart creates an electromagnetic field that extends more than 12 feet from the body. these fields can have profound effects on other people. a mother and infant, when neither are stressed, will make their EM fields in tune with each other. this is measurable with an ekg. as a matter of fact, any infant, when deprived of the EM fields of all his primary caregivers at the same time (usually these are the mother and father) will become so stressed after 2 hours that his condition can be measured in several physical ways. even more alarming is this chilling little fact: if this happens to the child on a regular basis his brain will not fully develop. several neural pathways will be absent. this can lead to anti-social behavior later in life.
now you know why the ontario governmemt is willing to pay mothers or fathers to stay home for one full year to raise their children: they will more than make up the cost (which is immense) in reduced crime rates over the lifetime of the child. this has been proven so well in sweden that they are now providing financial support for 3 years.
sorry i just learned about this the other day and i am still freaked out.

| i can't tell if i have SARS or if it's just hot in here.
i wont talk about hockey. it is too painful. i just hope eric desjardins takes his time healing that foot. dont rush back eric! you wouldn't want to jeapordize your career by coming off the DL too soon.
sigh..
you know.. i thought that despite my childhood, my upbringing, and my genes, that i turned out to be a fairly normal human being. last week my doctor suggested that i would be happier if i moved up to the north country to become a dope grower. wtf?
speaking of dope, HAPPY 4:20 DAY! stoners unite! ..oh that was yesterday? i can't believe we spaced on the date, man!
